Sony brings the heat with the Playstation 5

Last week Sony held their big Playstation 5 event and showed off a number of new titles like Spider-Man Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank to name a few. It was a blast as not only did we see some wicked cool trailers but even saw some gameplay that helped showcase what’s in store for gamers.

Sony has a knack for over the top presentation in their events and this online event didn’t disappoint. Clocking in just over an hour there were plenty of visually stunning designs with transitions and hearing from studios on their thoughts on the Playstation 5 or their upcoming title. What’s even more impressive is that some of the “humans” were actually digital and not the real person which when I was watching could not tell the difference. This just shows just how far we have come in just 50 years of gaming.

What really shined were the many titles, both first party and third party titles shown during the event. THERE’S SO MANY!!! I was so impressed on how many games were shown and how many actually looked like something that’s worthy of playing. Seeing Demon Souls making a comeback came out of nowhere since the first title didn’t do the best but it looks like Sony has faith in their developers to make an even better remake.

Pragmata, Jett: The Far Shore, Deathloop and the surprise return of Little Big Planets, Sackboy A Big Adventure all look very promising. Obviously there’s still a lot to be known about these titles but they have my curiosity as of this moment. One of the bigger surprises to be seen was the Resident Evil 8: Village reveal. HOLY SMOKES does this look like it’s going to be a hell of an adventure. Capcom has been on a roll since Resident Evil 7 was released a few years back and the two recent Resident Evil 2 & 3 Remakes both had very positive reviews. The future looks extremely bright for the Resident Evil franchise.

The moment we were all waiting for was at the tail end of the event, the actual console reveal! I personally really dig the design and it’s very different from the mock ups shown in the past. There’s a lot of interesting designs that can be done with this console and that alone makes it exciting to see. The big shocker with the console reveal was that they will also be having a Digital Edition. This is huge as it will be the first console to have a digital console so far rather than having just a harddrive version. The PS4 was the first time I got into digital gaming and I love it and can see myself getting the Digital Edition, especially if that means it’s more affordable.

Overall, I think Sony did a great job with this event and makes me even more excited to see how Microsoft responds next month with their event. I really hope Microsoft brings the heat with their event because having a console holiday season is truly magical and just downright fun because we only get this once every 7 years or so. What were your thoughts on the Playstation 5 Reveal?

Tabletop gaming is about to have a new experience, a virtual one! It has been a long time since I have entered the realm of tabletop gaming. In San Francisco, CA; there is a store called Gamescape, which has been around since I was born, that sold unique 3D puzzles, toys, and on Thurs & Saturdays, their specialty, tabletop gaming! Nerds of young and old alike, would pile up in the back, around the tables and take their turns battling each other for bragging rights. Now, Resolution Games has brought tabletop gaming to VR.
